The power of imagination – a review of the comic book “Alice in Wonderland”

For children and adults – this is how the Egmont publishing house encourages you to familiarize yourself with the Classic Disney fairy tales series . It’s impossible not to agree. The latest volume – Alice in Wonderland – is another example that comic book adaptations of great film stories are a real must-have .

No surprises

The story told in the comic will not surprise you. It is a reflection of Lewis Carroll’s story, which we know from film adaptations, including Burton’s Alice in Wonderland in 2010. Visually, however, the heroine of the comic book is modeled on the animated American film from 1951 (the premiere in Poland took place a decade later – in 1961) from the Walt Disney studio, directed by Clyde Geronimi, Wilfred Jackson and Hamilton Luske. Interestingly, this realization was supervised by Walt Disney himself. Polish fans of the animator’s work, now adults, probably also remember Alice in Wonderlandreleased on videotape in 2000. Some people may fondly remember the wonderful Barbara Rylska as Alice, Zbigniew Gołas as the Hare and Jerzy Magórski as the Mad Hatter, as well as the King of Hearts.

Plot

Without changes. Bored with the history lesson, Alice suddenly notices a white rabbit in a waistcoat. In pursuit of an animal, he finds himself, in the most astonishing way, in Wonderland. There he meets strange creatures and experiences amazing adventures. The comic book under review shows the power of imagination, the unbridled curiosity of children, the courage that is necessary to confidently walk through the world and face adversities.

You want it!

Alice in Wonderland has been enriched with a colorful cover that introduces us to the magical world of the universe. Inside we find a beautiful endpaper and title page, a delightful gallery of characters, a factual story and memories – another gallery showing the adventures of a brave, if slightly absent-minded girl. The first glance at the volume makes us want to own it. It was similar with the previous proposals of Disney and Egmont: The Lion King , 101 Dalmatians, Lady and the Tramp , Mulan, Aladdin , The Little Mermaid, Snow White . I recommend this volume not only to small but also to large. Together with Disney, we can go on a memory journey to the land of childhood.
