The Planet of the Apes universe was very important to 20th Century Studios because it was created before Disney took it under its wing . However, there is nothing to worry about. Despite the fact that the films will be made under the Disney banner, the new production still seems to be in the canon of previous films, although we do not know its details yet. It is also known that Wes Ball, formerly known for directing The Maze Runner (2014), will be responsible for directing. It is he who confirms that Disney does not intend to make unnecessary changes to the world of the Planet of the Apes :

Steve Asbell, director of 20th Century Studios, has definitely confirmed the rumors of the new movie:
We hope to start production at the end of this summer or the beginning of fall.
