Dandelion is one of the most interesting characters from the world of “The Witcher”. His series creation also won the hearts of fans – to the point that perhaps we will learn more about his past.
Joey Batey was the only main cast member of The Witcher who we didn’t see on set before filming again . On the sequences shot at Fountains Abbey and Frensham Little Pond they worked, among others Henry Cavill (Geralt), Anya Chalotra (Yennefer), Mahesh Jadu (Vilgefortz) and Eamon Farren (Cahir), but our favorite bard has yet to appear in any of the set shots. Some began to wonder if his role in season two might be diminished by chance.
Fortunately, you have to remember that shooting takes place in various locations, including the studio, far from curious cameras. As of now, there’s nothing to worry about Dandelion’s limited role, especially in light of new news about the cast. We learned that the casting team has been looking for an actress for a portrait of Countess de Stael , a woman from the artist’s past , for some time .
According to the books ( The Swallow Tower ), Dandelion fell in love with her at the age of nineteen, which inspired him to embark on the path of poetry. We hear the announcement of this character in the series itself, in the genie scene in episode five. Dandelion recalls her words, and with his biting remark, Geralt recalls the fact that the woman left him. Then, when the bard expresses the second of his wishes, he asks the genie that the countess “welcome him again with joy, open arms and very skimpy clothes.”
This scene alone suggests that the relationship between these two is turbulent and extremely interesting. We do not meet as such in de Stael’s books, but adding it to the series is a way to deepen the plot and history of Dandelion. It is not known yet how big a role she will play or what actress will play her, but we will certainly love to see more of Joey on screen.
