More, faster and … – review of the third season of “DuckTales”

Do you remember my delight over the first and second seasons of the DuckTales reboot ? Well, it will be a bit different this time.

Good bad starts

The latest season took off from a really high C. Unfortunately, information about the cancellation of the series, which may have been due to financial decisions and the shutdown of TV channels in favor of Disney +, made the series lose quality, as the creators had to immediately finish the story within a few episodes.

There were too many ideas and characters in places to feature in the last twelve episodes. As a result, we were dealing with the fragmentation of the plot into several threads, which in principle did not bring anything new to the life of the duck family, and even made the viewer bewildered.

Meet Bradford – McDuck’s strangest arch-enemy

The whole story is actually a fight between the main characters and FLOW (KRUK in Polish) – a bad organization that wants to take over the world economy. It is true that he plans to do it in a completely different way than we can imagine. Bradford, the vulture director of FLOW, is the grandson of Isabella Finch – founder of the Young Scouts. Being the first scout, he served as a chronicler for this group, and later became a respected accountant and president of the board of McKwacz.

His real goal, however, was evil and he did not care about the financial destabilization of the world, he only wanted to permanently end the adventures of the duck family in order to eliminate any possible threat to the world and its economic stability. At the same time, he struggled with his own trauma, caused by the eternal fear of the dangers that lurked during his youthful escapades with his grandmother. Is it really an unusual opponent with interesting motivations?

90s icons on a single screen

The new season of Duck Tales is an even greater tribute to older viewers than it was in the case of the second season. At the very beginning, there is a clear reference to both the original from 1987 and the Quack Pack. In addition, characters from the series Brigade RR , Super Baloo and even Darkwing Duck as well as Goofy and others appear throughout the third season . Thanks to this twist, I found out what was going on with the son of a mad dog – Max. I was glad to see that the boy was successful in his life.

In addition, I was pleased that not only the creators of the series retained the classic character of the characters, but also the director of the Polish dubbing – Goofy spoke again with the voice of Krzysztof Tyniec. I just hope that the cameo of these characters is a preview of something really good and we can expect the Avenger series from Saint Canard soon.

Summary

From the end of the first episode to the last, Disney has shown that there is the right way to restart the franchise which is the world of the ducks. The first seasons were a tribute to the creators of the legendary adventures of Scrooge McDuck and his family. The last one is good up to a point and still presents essential values, such as the power of love and friendship, but it does get a bit of a derail.

I hate to see such things happen, but still thankful for the wild ride we got. And despite the big twist related to Tasia and Scrooge, the last (three-episode) episode is a worthy culmination of the series.

Nasza ocena: 8.7/10

Lots of classic Disney productions in one place and sometimes weird story solutions. They are still DUCKS for me! UUU-UUU!
