Marvel fans know perfectly well that Jane Foster has become the new Thor. What is happening with Odinson meanwhile? We learn about this from the comic book Unworthy Thor by Jason Aaron.
Regain my dignity
After talking to Nick Fury, Thor lost his dignity, abandoned Mjolnir, began calling himself “Odinson” and drinking heavily. The Duke of Asgard, however, gets up from his knees and wants to regain his lost honor. He learns that a new hammer has appeared that may help him with this. So he goes to get it. However, not only he would like to have it. Also entering the game are the Collector, Thanos with his Black Order, and an old enemy. Fortunately, our hero is not alone. He has on his side a faithful goat, Szczękacz, an old friend, Beta Ray Bill, and a hound from hell – Thori. Which team will put their hands on the magic weapon?
Full fight!
The author of Ungodny Thor is the American screenwriter Jason Aaron. He has such titles as Punisher Max , Thanos is rising or Wolverine and X-Men. However, he spent over 9 years on the adventures of Thor. And at first glance, you can see that he knows the hero whose adventures he is working on. The reader feels the despair of the Duke of Asgard at the loss of his dignity and sympathizes with him. Then he willingly goes into battle with him, cheering him on in the pursuit of the goal. He regrets when subsequent attempts fail, and at the end he is proud of him. All this is due to the author, who brilliantly portrayed the hero and his path to redemption. The extraordinary pace of the story should also be praised. Here action is after action and there aren’t too many moments to catch your breath. For this reason, the whole thing is read in the same breath, and in the end it remains unsatisfied, because you would like more. There are also fiction twists in the notebook, for example when Ray Bill, very much liked by fans, enters the fray. or when the last of Odinson’s enemies is discovered. Although the situation is extremely tense and serious most of the time, there is also a bit of humor to relax the atmosphere. And this one is provided by the dog Thori with his funny lyrics. But don’t be fooled by him. It is the hound of Helheim, after all, willing to send enemies straight to their home. Aaron deserves great applause for the adventure presented. The open ending makes us eagerly reach for its next parts. Aaron deserves great applause for the adventure presented. The open ending makes us eagerly reach for its next parts. Adequate support
Over the drawings for the Unworthy Thorseveral artists worked. The most important, however, were Olivier Coipel and Kim Jacinto. The first of them worked on the current events of Odinson’s life, the second – flashbacks, both of them perfectly supported Aaron. We got an equally good line for a great script. The gentlemen perfectly captured the dilemmas of the main character, his breakdown and the changes taking place in him. You can see when Thor is down, the moment he gets furious or comes to terms with his fate. To do this, it took a lot of details that we get. Without staring, we will notice wrinkles on the face or muscle tightening before the fight. And although the prince of Asgard is in the spotlight here, other characters are not overlooked. Care written on the horse’s face of Beta Ray Bill or the madness in the Collector’s eyes, all laid out on a tray. The recipients can only admire the end result. It is also worth mentioning that care was taken to properly mask one of Thor’s enemies, whose identity we learn at the very end. We can only guess who he is, but we are not sure. The cartoonists deserved no less applause than the screenwriter.
Nothing more nothing less
The Unworthy Thor is a great adventure for all Odinson fans. It is good that Egmont decided to publish this notebook, thus completing the Saga of Thor series . You can see that Jason Aaron is great at storytelling and has an idea for each of the characters. By the way, it leaves many understatements, thanks to which fans will eagerly reach for the next parts. Personally, I’m looking forward to the release of Mighty Thor: Asgard War Against Shi’ar . I’m sure it will be another epic adventure starring Thor.
