Searching for answers to new questions – this is what Barry has been trying to do since he and Wali revealed the existence of the three new forces. It is not an easy task, as the solutions seem to be hidden outside Central City. Leaving the city, however, is currently not a good solution for Flash, as Colonel Chłod has just stuck in it, which he has not yet figured out. In addition, such a trip would also involve separation from Iris. As if that were not enough, it seems that the power of strength decided to connect with the Trickster, which was ravaged by his life, and the power of the sage decided to connect with the emotionally lost Heat Wav. Does it always have to be this way uphill?
Honey, the dinner burned out
Recently, I had the opportunity to read not only Flash, but also Batman from the DC Rebirth series, and starting from comparing the two, I can say that Gacek is at least pale lately. The adventures of Barry and the crew are not only much more intense and interesting in terms of plots, but also more pleasant in terms of graphic design. From the moment I opened the comic, I didn’t leave it even for a moment, because there was just so much going on in it.
Drunken Trickster and stoned Heat Wave
The album The Calculus of Power contains comics originally published in The Flash # 52-57, the first three of which are about the power of strength, and the next three are about the power of the sage. The concept slightly resembles the one used in the Green LanternGeoff Johns – it turns out that the power of speed is an element of a larger whole, and Joshua Williamson decides to use the villains already existing in the universe (Trickster and Heat Wave) to introduce these novelties to the world of Flash. Both threads in the comic show the reader that the relationship between the new powers and the people they are in is unstable and can even lead to loss of life. Since Flash also gets hit with a new top-up for a while, we have the opportunity to see what it looks like in the hulk version (funny but interesting, I suspect that it would be worse for him to run with such a mass). I missed a bit of even greater involvement in the action of Colonel Chłod, who although gets a few scenes (and even explains how he became a renegade), but I still have the impression that that he could do more and help Barry explain the emergence of new forces. The character who, in turn, did not contribute much in this volume and was redundant for me is Iris (I had the same impression when watching the series).
Well, I can’t get a good look!
Referring to the graphics, I say that although Duce and Collins draw similarly at times, I liked the part made by Collins more. I suspect that it was the issue of the slightly annoying shading of the character’s face and the strange silhouette of Iris (in Duce) that did the trick. Undoubtedly, I am in love with the covers of Dan Mora (placed in the gallery at the end of the collection). Mr. Mora, give me MOOORE!
Only May, June and….
I am waiting impatiently what will happen next and how the power of stillness will be revealed to the heroes. The end of the volume heralds that Zoom also has something else to say, so it could be interesting. Overall check was a plus!
