It’s time to say goodbye to one of the most adorable and metal members of the Sanrio family. Netflix released the fifth and final season of Aggretsuko . Over the course of the first four seasons, we saw a red panda known as Retsuko struggling with her role as a “salaryman.” Constantly giving vent to repressed emotions, during death metal karaoke sessions at night. While she has found romance once or twice, the “on again off again” status with her co-worker Haida remains a big part of the series.
The last time we saw Aggretsuko in season four, she was seeking fame with death metal sessions that hit the web. She gained a growing number of followers and was even able to earn some serious money from it. In this final season, it seems that Retsuko may be asked to get into the political game as Haida apparently struggles with a serious addiction to video games, seemingly using role-playing games as a means of avoiding the real world.
One last time with Aggretsuko
Aggretsuko’s official Twitter account shared the important news that the final episodes of the animated series have hit Netflix. While lovingly saying goodbye to Sanrio’s character, who may be the company’s most popular character this side of Hello Kitty:
The Aggretsuko series follows the daily life of Officer Retsuko as she wrestles with her frustrations with her boss, co-workers and the world while singing death metal. In this season, after Haida quit his job, he is forced to leave his apartment, which is owned by his parents, and starts living in an internet cafe. There he meets Shikabane, someone who seems to have given up everything. Retsuko decides to move in with Haida to save him. Then a suspicious man who says he is a member of the Diet comes to recruit Retsuko…
