The full version of Exploding Kittens has been present on our market for some time. Now is the moment to get to know this game in a limited option – that is, prepared for a game between two people. The game was released in a small box, slightly larger than the one in which ordinary playing cards are kept. Its quality is also quite similar. Inside there is an instruction describing the course of the competition and 32 cards (not very durable, so I recommend buying T-shirts).
Brodokot or Tacokot?
Since I had not been able to play the full version of the kittens before, I am very positive about the encounter with them in the truncated version. The rules are straightforward, so you can quickly learn them both by yourself and for someone else. In addition, high levels of randomness and interaction deserve a huge plus, which make the gameplay fast and the emotions of the players intense.
There is one exploding kitten in the deck, the drawing of which ends the game automatically. The goal is, of course – just like in the classic Peter game – not to hit an explosive pet. The turn itself is about playing any number of times with the cards you have or acquired, and finally drawing one from the general pile. There are several types of moves: you can see what is hidden in the pile waiting for us, pick up a random card or one chosen by the opponent, or block the player’s move. During the course, of course, the competitive spirit comes to the fore very quickly, so it can be fun.
The phenomenon of purrs
Exploding Cats is a title that was released thanks to the kickstarter campaign, and it was brought to Poland thanks to the Rebel publishing house. At the moment, you can play not only the basic or two-player version, but also numerous add-ons, so if you like the publication, remember that you can expand it.
The two-person version is a good option for a longer journey on the train or a break during remote work (if we have a partner at home). I have reached opinions saying that due to a poor box, the publication does not last very long, and the truncated version itself provides less excitement and opportunities. And just as I can agree with the first remark, the second is not true in my opinion. The title is perfect for a casual and quick start at any moment of the day and anywhere.
Ugly kittens, but fun
In the case of Exploding Kittens , I have only one note – the graphics are not suitable for younger children, and not all adult players will suit them. In addition, it is a very entertaining position, and there are never too many of them, especially when we do not have a wide group of friends in the area and we are looking for something for two people.
