There can be only one winner – a review of the comic book “The Great War of the Zodiac”, vol. 2-4

In the Great Zodiac War , twelve warriors fight to the death to make their dream come true. Will the ending of this story be as spectacular as its beginning?

Everyone for everyone

In the Great Zodiac Warthere are numerous clashes, in the end there can be only one winner and only he will fulfill his wish. However, things change after the Rabbit’s special power is revealed in the first volume. Well, he turned out to be a necromancer, and thus the death of a given character does not necessarily mean that he is excluded from the war. Although the zombie cannot be the winner, as befits a puppet, he will do anything to help his master. Thus, in the next three volumes there are unusual twists and turns. In addition, a temporary alliance is re-formed and one of the warriors dies of a senseless death – on the one hand it was surprising, and on the other I wish I had seen him in battle. Duels are also different. Sometimes the difference in level is so enormous that the fight is over before it actually starts, and at other times it is ignorance and pride that lead to defeat. Of course, there were also some spectacular clashes, including a duel of two warriors against four opponents …The Great Zodiac War .

A cunning and crazy rabbit

After reading the whole thing, I find that each of the warriors had some charm. Everyone could cheer on and almost everyone had something on their conscience. I really liked the fact that we got to know their wishes at the end. For example, one of the heroes in the first volume seemed despicable, and after reading the fourth volume, you found that he also had goodness in him. Nevertheless, the most interesting character was undoubtedly the Rabbit. Not only because of necromancy, but because of brilliant tactical moves. Indeed, all of his clashes were extremely exciting. I was also surprised by the motivation of the Tiger warrior – a drunken, talented assassin who hated the Taurus. In fact, my greatest regret is that the participants of the Great Zodiac War died so quickly. It is a pity that more often a hero did not withdraw from the fight, to then suddenly return to the game. There is also the question of the unique powers and talents of each character. To be honest, nothing was essentially as spectacular as the power of Rabbit’s necromancy. I was expecting more surprises, and the only thing that surprised me was the Rat’s ability.

 

The image of doom

I won’t say much about the dash. It is decent, it keeps the level, the heroes are looking great, and the fight scenes are also good. It is bloody, spectacular, the corpse is thick, what more could you want from a battle royal story ? I would only stick to covers that depict specific Zodiac warriors. Thus, before reading, you can find out who has already dropped out and who will be hitting in a given volume. It takes a little bit of the fun of reading. I will also mention that at the end of the fourth volume, a text has been added describing an alternate version of this story. Namely, what would happen if the characters from this manga clashed with the representatives of our family zodiac. Unfortunately, this is only a prologue, but if such a comic was released, I would take it blind.

 

Was it worth taking part in the Great Zodiac War ?

The Great Zodiac War took me by surprise. I didn’t have great expectations for a battle royale storylineand yet I am deeply involved in this brutal world. It is true that some things have not been explained, the same is the case with the whole universe, about which nothing is known. Basically, even after reading four volumes, we won’t even know where the Great Zodiac War came from. On the other hand, is it important? We have a lot of epic, spectacular duels here, and a few cunning, surprising and sneaky plays. My regret is that not every fighter could prove himself, which does not change the fact that I am delighted with this series anyway. It is a strong eight for me. I had a very nice time with this manga, the story drew me in, I watched the actions of all the characters with great pleasure. In the end, I can only say that I would like more!
