The first season of The Witcher brought us both good and slightly worse scenes. Although Netflix tries to make its titles with the best possible quality of recording and editing, it is not always successful. However, we will not focus on pointing out mistakes. On the contrary, we will recall one of the best sequences we have seen on the show so far.
Already in the first episode, Geralt (Henry Cavill) visits Blaviken, meeting Renfri (Emma Appleton) and her gang there. As a result of the conflict, they fight in an empty market – a fight, called by some one of the best battle sequences in the history of cinema.
The beauty of this scene is largely due to its choreographer, Wolfgang Stegemann . The man previously worked on projects such as Mission: Impossible – Fallout (2018), Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation (2016), Inferno (2016) or Mumia (2017), in all of them responsible for the course of the fight scenes. Today we can confirm that Stegemann is involved in the production of the second season of The Witcher and is working on key battle scenes.
Theories suggest that he will be responsible for Kaer Morhen-related choreographies. Over the past few days, the crew has been shooting in Bourne Woods, which is possibly the setting for the area. Among others, Cavill and Basil Eidenbenz (Eskel) were seen there, and it is likely that Freya Allan (Ciri), Kim Bodnia (Vesemir), Paul Bullion (Lambert) and Yasen Atour (Coën) were also seen there. The series will also feature witchers not known to fans from books or games. Interestingly, an eyewitness to the shooting in Bourne Woods says that Geralt was tied to a tree and kept as someone’s prisoner. It is very possible that Zeus, the horse playing Roach in the first season, was also seen there. Considering that this time Geralt will probably sit on the back of a new mount, this may mean that scenes from one of the first episodes are filmed there.
The second season of The Witcher will appear on Netflix in 2021.
