Looks like the Hawkins kids didn’t beat Vecna. The actor who impersonates the villain has highlighted the return and motivation of his character in the upcoming fifth season.

After a final confrontation with Eleven and her friends, Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower) is fatally defeated, taking serious injuries. Despite his apparent death, the season four finale showed that the main characters’ efforts were not enough, and Vecna continued to pursue his elaborate plan.
Bower suggested a return of Vecna that would be even more deadly than ever.
“He’s pissed. If you thought he wasn’t pissed before, he’s really pissed now. He’ll get his revenge, ”he told Bloody Disgusting.
It should come as no big surprise that Vecna could make a comeback to Hawkins, given that its plan to open an Indiana city-Upside Down link has been broadly fulfilled.

At the end of the third season, the heroes split up, but further events plaguing the town contributed to their return. The Duffer brothers recently announced that the entire fifth season will be held at Hawkins only, with no return to Russia or California.
“We want to go back to a lot of the things we did in the first season. Lots of the original groups and couples we had in Season 1 – there’s something nice about coming to the full circle. ” Matt Duffer shared in an interview for Sad Confused.
