If you like the combination of different versions of Spider-Men in Spider-Man: No Way Home or Spider-Man Universe , but you feel unsatisfied with the number of Spiders, then be sure to reach for Spidergedon ! The number of versions of Peter Parker in it (and not only) will surely satisfy even the most demanding fans!
Returns
Spider-Mani from different universes had to join forces to defeat the Inheritors – creatures that drain life from spider totems. They managed to win and lock their enemies in a world where their power was restrained. The vampires, however, have returned, and they want to destroy every Spider-Man they come across again. On their own, neither of them has a chance against such a powerful rival. Therefore, the heroes must unite once again and stop the attack of the antagonists. However, it is not that simple. There is a conflict in the spider team. Can the dispute be resolved before all is lost?
Come on, team!
In Spidergedona lot is happening. The action starts here from the first page and does not slow down until the very end. It is worth appreciating that short stories about several versions of Spider-Man introduce us to the adventure itself. Thanks to them, we can get to know Spider-Punk (and see Punk Hulk by the way!), Peni Parker or Uncle Ben, who is endowed with powers. They were written by several different writers who had some pretty interesting ideas on how to bring superheroes to the event. Christos Gage is responsible for the main plot. The scriptwriter has an idea of how to bring the Inheritors back into the game and what to do to prevent us from getting only duels between vampires and spiders. The team’s internal conflict causes even more emotions and action to await us. Maybe it is resolved a bit too quickly, but we can’t really complain too much either. At the same time, the whole story is not too complicated and pleasant to read. It may not be a high-flown plot that deserves comic awards, but it is certainly a typical and very accessible adventure in a truly superhero style.
To add something, to take something
The publisher of Spidergedon in Poland is Egmont . They certainly deserve credit for completing the story of Spider-Man’s fight with the Inheritors, but unfortunately, there are also some downsides. But let’s start with the good side. A few words of introduction deserve praise, reminding about the previous clash between Pajączków and vampires. In addition, we also get a list of all the main characters, thanks to which it will be easier for us not to get lost in spider webs. Anyway, this is where Marvel himself comes to the rescue, who in many cases signed our superheroes, also adding a note which of them comes from which universe. As I mentioned, there are also some short introductory stories. In fact, they were not necessary. Everything could start fromSpidergedon # 0 or possibly Superior Octopus # 1 and we would still have no problem understanding the scenarios. However, we were given a nice bonus, for which you should certainly thank. Anyway, after the end of the main adventure, stories about Web-Slinger, Spider-Byte or Spider-Ma’am await us. The most interesting, however, is the manga-style story of Japanese Spider-Man, i.e. Takuya Yamashiro and his robot Leopardon. So it will be a delight!
Unfortunately, the main plot suffered a bit of damage due to this amount of add-ons. We get some really cool, but less necessary curiosities, while the main plot could be supplemented with the events from the notebooks about Peter Parker from Earth-616 and about Spider-Ghost. As a result, there are a few holes in the script. Not too big, the kind where we can easily guess what was happening in the parallel reality, but the effect has been slightly spoiled. And it was enough to skip at least one of the additional stories and add a bit to the event itself …
Draftsmen’s shows
As I mentioned, Spidergedon is a collection of several different albums, and thanks to this, we can see the work of many cartoonists. Most of them were created by Carlo Barberi and Jorge Molina. It is these gentlemen who are responsible for the graphics for the main plot. And you watch them really well. They keep up with the action invented by Gage and adjust everything to the superhero adventure proposed by the writer. However, many other illustrators also showed their skills here. Everyone gave something different, unique and pleasing to the eye of the recipient. For example, the manga-style story that I have already quoted or the story about Spider-Punk and the Hulk show from that universe deserves a special mention. Personally, I was most impressed by Clayton Crain’s works drawn for Spidergedon # 0. They look like oil paintings that should be cut from a comic book, framed and hung on the wall. I think that such an ornament would be a real treasure in the collection of any Spider-Man fan.
Will you be reunited?
Spidergedonit’s a really good comic book worth recommending. The plot may not be surprising, but the reception is pleasant. The reader will certainly not be bored reading about the clash between Spider-Man and Heirs. It’s also a good read for those new to comics, but should also be enjoyed by those looking to take a break from more complex stories and enjoy pure superhero action. It is also a real treat for fans of the Spider-Man himself. We have the opportunity to see different versions of Peter Parker here. It’s nice that many of them, especially some a bit less known, have been given a lot of space in the add-ons. It’s just a pity that the main plot has suffered a bit. By the way, the creators left the gate ajar. The ending heralds that our Spiderlings will still have to join forces. If it is done as in this album, then I don’t mind the next Spiderversum stories!
