Taika Waititi returns to a galaxy far, far away. After pre-hosting the season one finale of The Mandalorian , the Oscar-winning director is set to leap to the big screen in his next Star Wars venture .
While the details of Waititi’s film remain top secret, a new report by The Hollywood Reporter indicates the project may begin in early 2023. Waititi’s newest film, Thor: Love and Thunder , is currently in theaters, and in a recent interview with The Rolling Stone it reveals that Star Wars is next on his list.

“Natalie Portman asked me what I was going to do next and I replied that I was trying to work on something from Star Wars . Then I asked if she would ever like to star in Star Wars . She replied that she had acted in the Star Wars movies . I completely forgot about it! ”.
Shortly before his interview with The Rolling Stone, Waititi told The Wrap that he was working on other projects for the rest of 2021.
