The spin-off about how ex-Rebels deal with the transition from the control of the Galactic Empire has a lot of plot possibilities, which probably led to the initial announcement of the Star Wars: Rangers of the New Republic series .
The series was announced in 2020, but details about the narrative were kept secret . Viewers first encountered such organizations in The Mandalorian . At the time, reports claimed that Gina Carano would be starring in the series, with her Cara Dune becoming the focal point of the narrative along with the other Guardians. Shortly after the project was announced, Carano was released from her contract with Lucasfilm, and the future of Rangers of the New Republic was in doubt. Probably in the years since its announcement, the studio has completely moved away from this concept.
