Disney’s purchase of Lucasfilm has undoubtedly opened the door to a plethora of new Star Wars projects . Recent years have seen many movies and series that have developed the Star Wars universe by exploring events that the main saga had missed. Actress Natalie Portman added to the canon by portraying Padmé Amidala on the sets of the prequel trilogy. She recently admitted that she is open to a potential return to Star Wars. She also noted that no one had contacted her about this so far. It is true that Padmé dies at the end of Revenge of the Sith , but this does not exclude the appearance of the senator, for example, during her reign on Naboo.
During an interview with Actually Me for GQ , Portman answered a fan question about returning to Star Wars:
I have no information on this. Nobody asked me to come back, but I’m open to it.
Some fans may be surprised to learn that the actress has not received any proposals from Disney, given that several actors from the prequel era have already made a comeback in new series. Last year belonged to the series Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi , where the title Jedi Master was once again played by Ewan McGregor. Apart from him, Hayden Christensen reappeared as Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader. There was even a short cameo by Liam Neeson, the master of Qui-Gon Jinn.
Is it possible to create something new with Padmé?
As we saw in The Phantom Menace , Padmé Amidala had a number of servants who were not only her closest companions, but also sometimes took part in special missions, such as bait. In the comics, one of them, Sabé, stood alongside Darth Vader, where together they tried to solve the mystery of the queen’s mysterious death. The comic takes place between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi . So not only is Padmé an interesting character, but her surroundings also have the potential to create exciting Star Wars stories .
