Much has been written about the Smurfs. The fairy-tale race of blue creatures has been functioning in culture since 1963. The originator was Pierre Culliford (1928-1992), and after his death, the work on comics is continued by screenwriters and cartoonists collaborating with the son of this Belgian artist. The Smurfs Village Brawl is the ninth volume in the series. Unique! Culliford is the author of the script and drawings. During this period, he collaborated with Yvan Delporte.
Divisions are not really necessary
The Smurfs have always lived in a great friendship: they borrowed various items, offered each other delicacies, gave each other selfless gifts, paid compliments. Never before has any blue man thought about social divisions. And yet! The Smurf Village can be divided into two equally smurf parts: North and South. It turns out that where you live can have an impact on how we construct words. While a Northern Smurf will say korkosmerf , a Southern Smurf will use the word Smurf train . Half the trouble if each of them accepts language discrepancies … As you can easily guess, in the village of Smurfs a spark is enough and the fire is ready!
When Papa is away, the Smurfs play
Fighting Smurfs appeared on the cover of the comic. One of them holds a hammer, the other – a stick. Unequal fight, huh? We see Papa Smurf nearby, who is clearly terrified, we can almost hear him shout: “[…] my little Smurfs!” In the story, the most experienced Smurf is focused on his experiment. He needs time to work on his own, so he offers his charges an offer he can’t refuse: they don’t have to go build a bridge as long as they play football together, without arguing (the battle ax is about to be buried, and that’s it!) This plan, however, failed. To restore peace in the Smurfs village, good-natured Papcio will have to turn to his greatest enemy, Gargamel.
Addition
In the notebook, we also have the opportunity to read thirteen one-page stories that have been collected under the common title Smurfolympic Games . Readers of all ages will smile at least a few times as they admire the village’s commitment to the Smurf Olympics. Did you know, for example, that we can build a muscle on our head with a barbell? Or that the (almost) traditional bullfight can take place without a bull? And the Smurf knew! After all, no one got hurt in the comic. The heroes even took care of the safety of the fish during their fishing adventure.
About the visual layer
There are a lot of blue heroes in the comic (I wonder why ?!). Eye-catching graphics and elaborate details allow us to distinguish between them. As the brawl remains a problem in the Smurfs village, it is important where the heroes live. The balloons are large, so readers – both small and larger – will have no problems with reading the content, which is really a lot in this notebook. The Smurfs switch ideas on Smurf neologisms ( confismurfs , Smurfs , non-emeralds , Red Smurf ). In addition, the reader gets a good deal of grammatical rules, and the Biggest Smurf seems to be most involved in these considerations. Will the blue men reconcile? We invite you to read!
