My beloved LoTR gadget is the pendant Arvena gave to Aragorn. It is a wonderful symbol for me of eternal devotion and affection, and a beautiful ornament that I enjoy wearing. He came to me, the One Ring. It will be a memento of my home. All those who come for me will be associated with him. He is my treasure. The marks on it are as clear as the day I received it. Maybe it has a secret that only fire will reveal… but I won’t throw it in the furnace!
As a rule, I don’t collect movie gadgets, figurines, etc., but in this case I had to make an exception. A beautiful item from movies that mean a lot to me and to which I come back regularly and just as eagerly every time. And seriously, I don’t wear it around my neck, but knowing it’s in my drawer somehow works so well for me. – Karolina Małas
Collection of figurines
When writing about gadgets, one cannot forget about one of the greatest marketing successes – POP figures! from Funko. The producers of these vinyl toddlers have obtained a whole lot of licenses, including those involving the adaptation of “The Lord of the Rings”. Thanks to the multitude of characters, collectors who want to collect all the models have to work a lot, especially taking into account the numerous limited editions. In addition, new figures are announced from time to time. Thanks to the very good representation of the characters, the series with the heroes and villains of Middle-earth are one of the most sought-after, which also significantly affects the prices. They can reach the level of hundreds of zlotys, which may even reach a four-digit level over time. If you have even specimens from the basic series in your collection, at least do not get rid of them for now. In a few years they may become real … SKARRRBY! –Krzysztof Płociński
Rings
The work of JRR Tolkien is one of my greatest literary loves. And at the same time, this is another area where I am able to combine two, especially important for me, interests – fantasy and collecting. As in the case of Harry Potter , also in the case of The Lord of the Rings , I once collected some interesting items that I think are worth presenting to a wider group of readers.
For I am the happy owner of original, licensed replicas of the most important rings of power from the immortal work of my father’s fantasy. I am talking here specifically about the famous One, but also about the so-called The three or rings of elves that were the only ones left after the War of the Ring and were taken over the Sea. Unlike the aforementioned Harry’s souvenir, the rings look almost like a perfect copy of what we saw on the screen. Their originality is also evidenced by special certificates, which I keep in my cupboard to this day (I’m not sure why – probably to convince doubters as to their authenticity…). It is also worth mentioning that I got the rings thanks to the noblecollection.com website (if I know correctly, you can still buy them there).
However, before I managed to buy all four rings, in 2018 I bought two fakes at the Pyrkon in Poznań – the Only One and Narya, i.e. the one of the Three, worn by Gandalf himself. While the One, apart from the fact that it is quite flat, still looks somehow (in the photo it appears together with other mementoes of the convention, because I do not have a separate photo of it), the differences are very visible in the case of the Ring of Fire. For comparison, I present a joint photo of both versions – the original one and the one that is much less. – Michał Siciński
Legolas must be!
I think I’ve always loved elves. So it’s no surprise that Legolas has become my favorite Middle-earth hero (and one of my favorites in general). So whenever there was an opportunity to get figurines representing him, I had to reach for them. I bought Arwen’s necklace for my wife (then fiancée), who, like me, loves the trilogy filmed by Peter Jackson. The Lothlorien leaf is the prey from one of the convents. The pipe visible on the back is, in turn, not an official gadget. But because it fits perfectly with the climate, it is also one of the decorations on the shelf dedicated to Tolkien. – Piotr Markiewicz
Glasses!
Finally, I add a collection of glasses that could be collected while shopping for Nutella! The task was not that simple, however. First of all, the product was quite expensive and probably not every parent wanted to buy a few creams, and secondly, it was difficult to find versions with the most iconic characters on the shelves. I was lucky to get Legolas, Aragorn, Gimli and Eowyna. After the wedding, the spouse added to the collection of Sauron and a glass with the entire Fellowship of the Ring! – Piotr Markiewicz
