The eternal war
New heroes just hit the trail to seek adventure and gain fame and wealth. Their path leads through the famous Baldur’s Gate, a city full of ambition and corruption. This is where it turns out that the neighboring Elturel has disappeared from the face of Faerun. Behind this deed is a certain Thavius, who made a pact with the archdiabless Zariel. It is she who wants to use the inhabitants of the city to win in the eternal war between devils and demons, known as the War of Blood. So the daredevils must descend to Avernus, the first of the nine circles of hell, and save not only Elturel and Baldur’s Gate, but perhaps the whole world. But will they not be fooled by the sneaky devils and set out on the path of evil themselves?

Fans of D&D, RPG and computer games must have heard about Baldur’s Gate. After all, Baldur’s Gate is one of the most famous series we could play. Its first part was released for PC in 1998. Two years later we had a sequel in the form of Baldur’s Gate II: Shadows of Amn . The premiere of the third part has been announced for 2022. And if you count on the Descent to Avernushas something to do with the aforementioned titles, then you are right! It is an official combination of the last two titles. If you love this city, thanks to the textbook you will get over 50 pages with its detailed descriptions and pictures of the most important places. It’s like a guide to this iconic place. However, the action of the adventure also takes us to the title Avernus. Here, too, you will not be able to get lost. In addition to information about this circle of hell, you will also receive a two-page map measuring 52 x 74 cm. All this will not only increase your knowledge, but also bring a unique atmosphere to the game, and players will feel as if they are actually in Faerun.
Can I start now?
If you’ve decided to lead Baldur’s Gate: Descent to Avernus, I need to explain a few things to you first. Of course, experienced players do not need such information, but for beginners it will be extremely important. First of all, this manual is not enough for you to start the game. You must obtain at least the Player’s Handbook first , and the Dungeon Master’s Guide and the Book of Monsters may be necessary. Normally you’ll also need dice, character cards, pencils and, of course, chips! Your journey will start from the first level. Still the Descent to Avernusit is intended for the more experienced Game Masters. Players may be fairly new here, but your GM should already have an understanding of the rules, mechanics and the world of Dungeons & Dragons . Is it enough to read all the books already mentioned before? Not necessarily. The creators describe places, events and characters in great detail, and numerous maps will not allow you to leave the trail, but there is no “hand-guided” approach. It was assumed that the facilitator has already had a few sessions behind him and knows what it is all about. Therefore, for novices, I recommend the Starter Kit and the Phandelver Lost Mine attached to it . It is not long and is an excellent introduction to Faerunna. Once again, Rebel made a fantastic gift for D&D fans and gave them an interesting adventure! You could already explore the Phandelver mines and meet the legendary Strahd before. Now is the time to go straight to Hell and join the Blood War. You certainly won’t regret it. An unusual atmosphere, beautiful graphics, an addition in the form of a map and the opportunity to visit one of the most famous cities of Faerun await you. Just remember to play this famous RPG a bit first, otherwise you will spend your sessions largely looking at other manuals. Old veterans, on the other hand, will not have any problems and they can get into new troubles practically on the spot!
