Final Battle! – review of the comic book “Driftwereld. A Tale of a Witch “, vol. 3

The first volume of Driftwereld was delightful in many ways. Will the finale of this trilogy be as amazing as previous ones?

From Driftwereld to the Human World

A Tale of a Witch is the title of the third volume of the Drift World series and its finale. Ysabeau, the Red Wizard and Dellrik infiltrate the human world to defeat the evil witch. In such a situation, you have to adapt to the crowd and a bit of magic in the form of talismans will be useful. Thanks to them Dellrik will not look like a beaver with protruding teeth, but like … a human! Perturbations with a change of appearance are funny, and this is just the beginning of the adventure. In the end, to get the main antagonist, you still have to find her, which is not such a simple task (although in fact the worst is still ahead of our heroes!), And you will still have to defeat her. Already in the second volume, the witch turned out to be a dangerous opponent, and fighting her in her territory may not be such a good idea …

The final duel with the witch

An interesting meeting takes place in the third volume. Our heroes find themselves in the middle of the French Revolution. It is a fairly short episode, but most importantly fun. However, what is most interesting in this volume, the author presented the witch’s motivations, and although it is difficult to identify with her, it must also be admitted that he is right. By the way, we also get to know the legend of the creation of the World of Drift! I wish this was the end of this story. In the sketchbook, the author has included many interesting projects, for example the sketch of the magician Issingaj, who is only mentioned by the Red Wizard. The World of Drift from the first volume delighted with the richness of the universe, but at the end you feel that the author showed only a small fraction of this intriguing world.

The charms of magic

Probably no one will be surprised that I will be delighted with the designs of fantastic creatures again. This time more representatives of the dying Norn species appeared. In addition, Ken Broeders presented an epic clash involving Oberyn, the legendary king of elves. Since the heroes wandered into the world of humans, the author also drew more representatives of this amazing, miraculous race, through which all fantasy creatures had to escape to the World of Drift. Well, I must admit that trolls are more beautiful in their ugliness. When I looked at the squared face of the trader, I could even hear that wild scream coming from her throat! I will look at the individual volumes more than once, just to look at the wonderful line by Ken Broeders!

One last glimpse of Driftwereld

I was delighted with the first volume of Driftwereld! Although the story was not overly original, the universe created by Ken Broeders was simply breathtaking. Both the trolls and the elves of low and high families looked beautiful. I was easily absorbed into the plot and with great difficulty I got away from the first volume. Unfortunately, there was a little less magic in each subsequent volume. The story was heading for the finale, and therefore there were no interesting side plots or a greater dose of humor. It does not change the fact that this is one of the most interesting fantasy series. Thanks to the wonderful line by Ken Broeders, I will definitely never forget a few hours spent in the Drift World.
