Corto Maltese follows the mystery of the magical “mirror” of Father John, the legendary king who was to reign somewhere on the outskirts of the world. The trail will lead the young adventurer along the trail leading from the library in an old Venetian monastery, through struggling for independence Egypt and the exotic island of Zanzibar, to the jungles of Equatorial Africa full of slave hunters. Corto will meet beautiful and strong women again, he will enter the heart of darkness again to unravel the mystery from centuries ago, he will again have to choose whether he should help someone, giving up his own desires. The first twelve volumes of the Corto Maltese series were written by the Italian comic book master Hugo Pratt (1927–1995).
