If you want to take part in an unusual race and win the laurel of the winner, you have to lay out the cards in the rhythm of a simple rhyme: Bun, Pizza, Cap, Gift, Cake. If a spoken word appears during this action, quickly tap the card with your hand and cover it with your hand. In this crazy game you need to have reflexes and a lot of luck.
Another proposition after Bun, Pizza, Cat, Cheese, Goat from Dave Campbell with illustrations by Simon Douchy is an unusual card game that requires a bit of a flat surface and a few participants. There are sixty-four cards and instructions in a rectangular box, which is solidly made, so – as you can see – you don’t need much to have fun.
It’s time to play
As for the game itself, as I mentioned earlier, we sit down at the table and each participant is dealt the same number of cards. You can’t peek at them, that’s very important. The first person lays out the sheet with the pattern up and says “bun”, the next person repeats the action, saying the next word from the title, i.e. “pizza”, and so on in turn to the rhythm of a specific song, i.e. the title of the game. The rhyme continues until the word matches the played card. If this happens, cover the pile on the table with your hand as soon as possible. The last player is unlucky because he has to collect all the lying sheets. As you might expect, the fun is to get rid of all the pictures in the shortest possible time.
Simple rules but lots of fun
It must be admitted that Bun, Pizza, Hat, Gift, Cake is not a complicated item, but not quite as simple as it might seem. The activities and rules are quite clear, it tests reflexes, patience and “nerves of steel” very well. During the game, you cannot make the slightest mistake, because the penalty will be severe. Let’s assume that the picture does not match the spoken rhyme, but someone made a move without covering the pile with his hand, and so he removes all the cards from the table. Don’t be fooled either, learn the title well because a mistake in order ends up as above.
There is something else that also appeared in the previous version, that is, special cards. They don’t fit the rhyming title, but they require a kind of interaction. They appear on them: Unicorn, Ninja or Monkey. If one of the players puts one on the pile, they must all cover it with their hand and make the appropriate gesture on the sheet. There can only be one winner and it is not the person who gets rid of all the cards, he must also be the first to put his hand on the pile.
There is no time to be bored
What’s cool about Bun, Pizza, Cap, Gift, Cake is the pace of the game, thanks to it you can’t get bored, and the fun is great. You never really know who’s going to win, because the ice cream of the participants changes from second to second, and the person who has two cards has to take the whole pile in a moment and the discarding starts all over again. In addition, the whole thing has a very compact package that takes up really little space, so you can take the item on a trip or to friends.
Will everyone be happy?
I really recommend the title to everyone. It will find its supporters among the youngest and older recipients at events. This is a great proposition for families, for example after Sunday lunch. It can cause some problems for nervous people and overly ambitious audiences, because then it’s more frustrating than fun, but you have to answer the question for yourself: how much control you can have. A good proposition, especially if you don’t have an earlier version, because this uncomplicated game will give you the opportunity to have a good time. Do you have Bun, Pizza, Cat, Cheese, Goat in your collection ? Apart from new pictures, you will not get anything new, and the rules are already well known to you.
