What was …
Of course, before volume II appeared, there had to be volume I. People who have it in their collection certainly cannot complain. It contains the mythology known from the world of Warcraft . So we learn about the Void Lords and Ancient Gods such as Yogg Saron or N’Zoth and their servants, headed by Ragnaros. Then we get to know the entire pantheon, learn more about the Titans, the transformation of Sargeras and finally the creation of Azeroth itself. There are also references to dimensions and elements here. Finally, the viewer can learn about the history of people and dwarves, the foundations of cities such as Stormwind, Dalarn, Gilneas and the Iron Forge. Volume I ends with the story of The Last Guardian – Medivh. Everything is decorated with beautiful illustrations referring to the described events and characters.
What is …
World of Warcraft: Chronicle. Volume II begins with a visit to Draenor. This time we get to know this world inhabited by orc clans, where races such as arakkoa and draenei lived. We follow the fate of its fall and the moment of its destruction. The authors did not forget about the very important event which was the birth of the Horde. Then we move to Azeroth and the most important moment, both for these two planets and for the players themselves – the orcs’ passage through the Dark Portal. After all, that’s where it all started! I don’t know if in 1994, when the Warcraft: Orcs & Humans strategy was released, Blizzard employees thought that 26 years later their product would still be popular, and the so-called “Lore” will be expanded on a large scale. Either way, it cannot be denied that we are dealing with a turning point. So we follow the history of the heroes during the First and Second Wars. It all ends with the Alliance forces breaking up the Horde. However, we know well that this is not the end.
It was good, and it gets even better!
The first volume of World of Warcraft: The Chronicle is undoubtedly a sensational book . All WoW fansthey were delighted with it and flocked to the bookstore to buy it. And no one felt disappointed. The wonderful edition and the history of the universe created by Blizzard delights and engages. However, the second volume turns out to be even better! Or at least that’s the impression you get. In fact, in both of them we get a chronological sequence of events, detailed descriptions and beautiful illustrations. But it is the second part that is closer to the player. It is there that the stories known from monitor screens are contained. Crossing the Dark Portal, wars between the Horde and the Alliance, the conflict between the orcs and draenei or the intrigues of Sargeras. More popular heroes also appear. Of course, lovers of Azeroth know very well who Tyr, Galakrond, Aman’Thul or Korven were, but they are certainly closer to Gul’dan, Grommas, Velen or Anduin Lothar.Birth of the Horde or Waves of Darkness . All this makes the recipient even more willing to read – he rediscovers this extraordinary world, returns to his own experiences related to Warcraft and thus has the impression that he has an even better product in front of him than its predecessor.
What will be …
In 2018, Blizzard released the third volume of the Chronicles . It tells about the events taking place between Warcraft III and World of Warcraft: Cataclysm . The reader then has the opportunity to take a closer look at the history of the Third War, the appearance of the Lich King, the invasion of Outland, the defeat of Kil’jaeden and finally the cataclysm caused by Deathwing. We can expect that the title will also go to Poland. It will probably not be inferior to its predecessors, so it’s worth waiting for!
Without hesitation
If you are a Warcraft fan , I do not have to encourage you to read the second volume of Chronicles . This is a must-see for anyone who has spent some time in Azeroth. Knowing the story well, you don’t even need the previous part, but who needs an incomplete collection? Readers who know this world from books written, among others by Christe Golden or Aaron Rosenberg should also be tempted by World of Warcraft: Chronicles. It will be for them a supplement to already known stories. For those uninitiated in the wars between the Horde and the Alliance, the title will be rather neutral. A beautiful edition with great illustrations may be visually tempting, but the content will probably be less exciting. On the other hand, if you get both volumes, the stories from the Blizzard universe may encourage you to start the game. So let’s think about it and not pass by this item indifferently.
