Greedy fault
They say the Scrooge takes pride in never cheating. Is it true? There is one scratch in his impeccable image. Well, according to Don Rosa’s story, in the early 1900s, this multi-millionaire duck tried to buy land from a certain African tribe. Unfortunately, he met the resistance of the local shaman Fula Zula, who, additionally irritated by the arrogant behavior of the Scrooge, threw him out of the village in a plucked chicken skin. As revenge and the implementation of his plans, McDuck burned the village, and then bought the land from the shaman by trickery. The latter, in turn, again wanting to get back at the Scot, sent a villager Bombie after him, who was turned into a zombie, carrying a doll that would permanently reduce the McDuck to the size of a mouse if he touched it. Bombie always felt the presence of the Scrooge, so the drake could never lose him. Nevertheless, the zombie remembered him without sideburns and glasses. This saved Scrooge from his wrath. The bomb persisted and chased McDuck all over the world, also on the sinking Titanic, but the old drake’s patience had its limits. He asked another voodoo sorcerer to neutralize the zombies for forty years.

Where is the real beginning?
The above-described event is a prologue to the original Bombie story, which first appeared in the Barks comic from 1949, the Polish title of which is Wudu dla ludu. We meet our Zombie when the curse cast by the previous sorcerer has stopped working, so he, feeling the presence of a Scrooge, comes to Duckgarden, still looking for McDuck. However, the bomb runs into Donald Duck and thinks he recognizes the young Scrooge he has been looking for for seventy years. Consequently, she gives him a doll that stings Donald. The nephew, having learned from his wealthy uncle what consequences this sting could cause, leaves for Africa. Together with him, Huey, Dewey and Louie (who thanks to Bombie win a large cash prize) leave, deciding to escort the Zombie to their homeland. On the spot, Donald initially manages to achieve his destination, but when Zula learns that he is related to McDuck, she decides to get back at the innocent duck. Just like in a comic bookIn the land of totems, Donald is rescued from oppression by his nephews, but they sacrifice Bomb in a rather funny way.

What’s next for Bombie?
First, let’s answer the question: how many zombies are there in Bomb? According to tradition, zombies are resurrected bodies, without their own will, that yield to priests by carrying out their tasks. The more scientific explanation for doubters is that zombies are most likely people intoxicated by drugs or other substances by priests, whose vital functions cease for a period of several hours to several days. They then do all sorts of small jobs for their master. Both descriptions would fit Bombie.
It has been known for a long time that the zombie craze is big and has been going on for several decades. Nevertheless, well-behaved Disney was afraid of showing Bomb on the glass screen until recently. Only in the latest version of Duck Tales, Bombie was presented as an invincible monster that always pursues the richest person in the world. The greedy attempted to keep Bombi on the island with powerful spells, but Zyzio eventually frees a giant zombie after earning a Scrooge fortune. Ultimately, Bombie is stopped when Zyziek and McKwacz show humility, stating that their wealth does not solve everything and is not the most important thing in life. What could it have resulted from? I think mostly from the fact that the previous version of the series was aimed mainly at younger children, so they didn’t want to scare them.

I also encourage you to read the other comics in the volume with the story of Bombie. Among them we can find, among others, In the Far North, which had two versions, the international American and the special Norwegian, as you can see when reading the introduction to volume eleven. It is also worth paying attention to the Letter to Nicholas, in which we can see a completely different face of the old Sknera, the imprudent and funny decisions of Donald and, most importantly, the duel of excavators, which found several references in later stories.
