The actor shared this information during his performance in The Drew Barrymore Show , in which he informed the fans not only about the current stage of film production, but also his participation in the creation of the plot of the next part. Without going into details – as we still don’t know exactly what Aquaman 2 is going to be about , he said he liked the story so much he helped write her script:
The best thing I can share with you is that I love this movie so much that I participated in its writing. We did the first draft, then James and our official writer David finished it. Our whole heart is in it. Instead of just writing a script, you are 100% motivated by your director and co-workers. This is exciting for me and I can’t wait to go to the set. I’m leaving in July and we’re starting filming.
The fact that production will start in July is not new, however. Already a few months ago it was said that this coming summer is to be expected. It was mentioned first by Discussing Film , then by actor Dolph Lundgren, who played in the first Aquaman of King Nereus. A few weeks ago, Amber Heard, who appears in the film as Mera, shared photos on her Instagram. Some showed her workouts, others from 2018 Aquaman , which might suggest an upcoming sequel.
The actress also commented on the production in an interview for Entertainment Weekly :
I am very excited about the amount of love and fan recognition that Aquaman has won and that the film has generated so much excitement towards Aquaman and Mera which means we will be back. I am very excited to be part of this.
Aquaman 2 is scheduled to hit theaters on December 16, 2022.
