At Warner Bros. officially advanced preparatory work for the spinoff of the fourth part of Mad Max is underway . The action of the production is to take place in front of that painting and focus on the character of Furiosa. This time, however, we will not see Charlize Theron in this role. Instead, she was cast, known from such productions as Split or New Mutants , Anya Taylor-Joy. In addition to her, Chris Hemsworth and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II will also star in the film.
As usual, the director of the picture will be George Miller, who created the entire series. He is also to be the co-author of the script. In an interview, the filmmaker from Australia explained how the current plan to start shooting was presented. Miller is aiming for next year, but first has to finish his current project – Three Thousand Years of Longing – and the global coronavirus pandemic is set to begin to fade away. If these two conditions are met, the label should give Furiosa the go – ahead .
Some surprise for some may be the decision to replace Charlize Theron. Miller explained that he would like to use computer technology to rejuvenate the actress, but is not convinced of the current level of this technology. Theron herself was also disappointed. In one of her earlier interviews, she admitted that she would be willing to continue developing her character’s story, but she fully trusts the director’s vision.
