Work is underway on a new “Exorcist”

The cult horror movie will soon return in a new version. Work is underway on another trilogy of films, in which we will again see one of the stars of the famous production from 1973.

According to reports, Universal Pictures and the Peacock streaming service are working together on the new The Exorcist trilogy . The directing was entrusted to David Gordon Green, who already has experience with horror movies. It is he who is behind the last two installments of another cult horror series – Halloween . People from Morgan Creek Entertainment will also work on the production – they currently have the rights to the brand – and the famous Blumhouse Productions. The estimated cost of the project is to exceed $ 400 million.

We also know some details about the plot of the first film. It won’t be, it’s a reboot or remake, but rather a continuation of the original image. It will return the Academy Award winner for Best Actress – Ellen Burstyn – as Chris MacNeil, whose daughter was demon possessed in the first production. The new story will focus on the character played by Leslie Odem Jr. He will play the father of a possessed child, who, knowing Chris’s past, will come to her for help.

The first installment of the new The Exorcist trilogy is slated to hit theaters in 2023. The next two films will have their premieres exclusively on Peacock. The Comcast Group and NBCUniversal probably want to increase the attractiveness of Peacock and attract new customers in this way. This is clearly another manifestation of the so-called streaming wars.
