The main character of the series was Sara Pezzini, a homicide detective who wielded the Magic Blade. It was a magic gauntlet that communicated with the person who wore it (usually a woman) and gave it strength.
In the 2001-2002 series, Yancy Butler played the glove owner (or rather the carrier). Thanks to Witchblade, the policewoman fought criminals such as the businessman Kenneth Irons and various supernatural evils. After the second season, the actress had to undergo drug addiction treatment and the series was taken off.
Screenwriter Marguerite Bennett and artist Ariela Kristantina have joined forces to revive the project. The character of Sarah Pezzani will return. The red debut is to be called Witchblade # 1/2, it is created thanks to a fundraiser for Kickstarter. It aroused so much interest that over 200% of the assumed amount has already been collected. The creator of the original series, Marc Silvestri, is also to be involved in the project.
Both wizards are looking forward to the results. Kristantina says:
I have to say I’m more than excited to be a part of the Witchblade revival – as well as working with Marguerite and Mark. Hopefully longtime Witchblade fans will enjoy Marguerite’s fantastic lyrics and visuals. I look forward to working with Marek to bring this project to life.
Witchblade is iconic. I’m overjoyed to bring Sarah Pezzini back to her die-hard fans, and honored to introduce her to a new generation of readers. We go through a world of space and myth, horror and sensuality, romance and danger – and I couldn’t be happier working with Ariel and Mark to make this impossible dream come true.
Bennett added.
We are looking forward to the results. And you?
