After two films with Nicolas Cage in the lead role, National Treasure is to return as a series that we will watch on the Disney + platform. As a result, fans were already losing hope for a third feature-length film, but as it turns out, perhaps not all is lost yet!
During an AMA Reddit and Top Gun: Maverick interview , Jerry Bruckheimer was asked about his collaboration with Nicolas Cage . The producer replied that he loves the actor and that they are currently working together on a script for The Treasury of Nations . However, he did not say specifically if he meant the third part of the film. It seems more likely that he meant the series that will appear on Disney + , in which it will appear, among others Justin Bartha, who will reprise his role as Riley Poole. Apparently, the action of both productions will take place in the same universe, which makes Cage’s guest appearance possible.
It is worth adding that earlier this year, Cage was asked why the National Treasury 3 never came into being. The actor stated that:
My phone never rang about this. It’s been 14 years since the premiere. However, if I were offered such an offer, I would probably say: why not?
