A few weeks ago, Embracer Group acquired several giants in the gaming market, including Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics, producers and publishers of Tomb Raider . Before this high-profile deal, they announced that work is underway on a new part of the game about the most beautiful Lara Croft, which will be based on the Unreal Engine 5. It is not yet known whether it will be a reboot or a continuation of the latest trilogy ( Tomb Raider, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Shadow of the Tomb Raider ). So it is possible that we will have two premieres in this series.
Embracer Group , after taking over Square Enix, among others, has announced that it will be interested in producing not only new parts of such items as Tomb Raider or Deus Ex , but will also take care of remakes of these iconic games:
The announcement on the acquisition of Crystal Dynamics, Eidos-Montréal, Square Enix Montréal, including “Tomb Raider”, “Deus Ex”, “Thief”, “Legacy Of Kain” […] met with an overwhelming and positive response. We see great potential not only in sequels, but also in remakes, remasters and spin-offs.
This information sounds very optimistic. We look forward to more information about a possible remake of Tomb Raider . Maybe the Embracer Group will return to the roots of the 1996 series?
