The new unknown horror game will be released only on PlayStation 5 consoles and will be developed by Sony’s First Party studio.
In late 2021, Sony announced that they had purchased Firesprite , which is British game developers. Previously, the company collaborated with Sony on several titles, including The Playroom, Run! Sackboy Run!. So far they have confirmed that they are working on Horizon for PlayStation VR2, but it looks like they will also be working on a horror-based title.
It was noted that on Firesprite’s job listing page, the studio announced that it was looking for new hires to develop and improve its dark new game:
We are looking for a narrative director to join our development team for AAA, a narrative horror adventure based on Unreal 5. He will be responsible for storytelling, help with creation and dilemmas regarding the universe and folk traditions. It will also deal with the quality of the narrative content, especially with the milestones of the project and the final appearance of the title.
Based on the fact that Firesprite is just looking for a narrative director for the project, it can be assumed that the PS5 game is in an early development process. The title, at worst, may not be released for several years.
However, this doesn’t mean that Firesprite has nothing to do. They are helping Guerrilla Games with Horizon Call of the Mountain on PS VR2, but also occupying a position in the Twisted Metal franchise coming to PS5. It seems they have something to do.
