During the recent CD Projekt conference, vice president Michał Nowakowski made it clear that the company would want to create more cyberpunk productions in the future. Although the upcoming Phantom Liberty is currently the only concrete issue , Nowakowski noted that he also plans to further develop Cyberpunk as a total franchise. Below you will find a record from the broadcast on which the Vice President’s words were spoken :
We decided to create one, large extension for Cyberpunk , which will use all the possibilities offered by the new generation consoles. Consequently, we are fully committed to the further development of the franchise. We put a lot of work and time into creating this world, so we would definitely like to keep building on what has already been created. Overall, it’s about new stories, impressions, just new material. And not only in the video game category.
It is true that during the conference Nowakowski did not confirm that we will see a sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 , but if they really want to develop the universe, creating a continuation of the first game seems likely. Either way, we still don’t know when or if Cyberpunk 2 will be released at all. Currently, CD Projekt Red is focusing on creating a project under the working name of The Witcher 4 , which is also the beginning of a completely new saga. So it is not certain that the studio will work on two major titles at the same time, but we can expect new information soon.
