Ragnarok was a huge hit for PlayStation and developer Santa Monica Studio, both ratings-wise and commercially. As such, it seems almost certain that the game will continue on PlayStation 5, although it is unknown to us how. And although Ragnarok was supposed to mark the end of the God of War series and its history in the Norse realm, it seems that this is not entirely a foregone conclusion.
During a recent panel at PAX East, actor Ben Prendergast, who voiced Tyr in God of War: Ragnarok , revealed, perhaps coincidentally, that the Norse god has yet to say his last word. Without revealing anything about the narrative of the gameplay itself, Tyr played a key role in the story, even if it was in a way many fans might not have initially expected.
Let me tell you, this is not Tyr’s last meeting.
Prendergast said during the panel.
As expected, this statement from the actor quickly sparked a wave of theories and excitement among fans. It also puts pressure on Santa Monica Studio and PlayStation, who have still not mentioned anything about God of War and what the series may have in store for the future.
If Tyr returns in God of War , we have to understand that he will appear in a brand new game. While there’s always a chance that God of War: Ragnarok could get DLC, 2018’s God of War hasn’t received any post-launch content, meaning its sequel likely won’t either. Whether this future title will center around Kratos, Atreus, Tyr or someone else remains a matter of speculation, but this new information is sure to encourage fans to discuss in the coming months.
