Batman is a character created in the late 1930s. He was invented by Bob Kane and Bill Finger. This superhero was inspired by Zorro, Shadow and Dracula, as well as the Bat from the 1930 movie The Bat Whispers . Over the decades, this character has evolved. Already in 1943, Batman was filmed, and Lewis Wilson played the main role, who probably looked more like a Penguin than Batman. The next screening took place in 1949, and the title role was played by a slimmer Robert Lowery. In the 60s it was Adam West who played Batman, and his rather funny than dangerous character causes a grimace of disgust in some people.
In 1986, acclaimed comic book writer and screenwriter Frank Miller created The Dark Knight Returns. His Batman was quite different from the one he had been in twenty years ago. A slightly older, bitter and brutal batman was returning from retirement to fight evil in dark Gotham. There he was waiting for him, among others Joker and the Mutant gang. Such a Batman gave many creators the impetus to abandon one-dimensional characters. Thanks to this, in 1989 Tim Burton created the already cult version with Michael Keaton.
Director Zack Snyder is referring to Miller’s work as a real “cat”, or rather “bat”. So far, he has created, among others, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which was less rated by critics . The creator recently stated that the adaptation of The Dark Knight Returns is still in his plans . He would like to make a standalone movie of it, abandoning plans to include it in the universe. He even said that it was his big dream.
Perhaps Snyder will have the opportunity to fulfill his great dream in the future. For now, he’s busy with Snyder Cut , which is the director ‘s 2017 version of Justice League . It will appear on HBO Max early next year.
