Will Spider-Man Noir Get His Own Series With Nicolas Cage?

Spider-Man: Across the Multiverse hits theaters on June 2. Unfortunately, no Nicolas Cage. The actor, on the other hand, may appear in another project in which he will reprise his role as Spider-Man Noir.

It was recently announced that Spider-Man Noir would be getting his own live-action series on Prime Video . During a recent interview with  Collider , producers Phil Lord and Chris Miller were asked if the project was still in the works, and they teased that Cage might be involved.

The production was [in development] until the writers’ strike, when everything was put on hold. We’ll come back to this when the situation is resolved. But it’s going well.

Phil Lord admitted

When asked if there was any chance that Cage could play the role on the show, he pretended to be modest and replied: There is a chance.

Back in March, Nicolas Cage spoke to ComicBook.com  and referred to this new series.

Well, I think he’s a great hero. He’s a character well suited to direct some of my favorite film noir stars. It doesn’t matter if the new generations don’t know who [Humphrey] Bogart or [James] Cagney is. (…) Spider-Man is the coolest superhero for me. I think combining him with film noir like a movie star from the golden age of the 1930s makes him one of the most exciting superhero characters out there.

Why isn’t Nicolas Cage in Spider-Man: Through the Multiverse?

In an interview with Screen Rant earlier this year, Cage confirmed he wasn’t returning to Spider-Man: Across the Multiverse.

You’d have to ask Sony. I don’t know what’s going on with it. Nobody talked to me about it. Ask them. I don’t know. Really. I wish they would. I love Spider-Man Noir too. I think he’s a great character. Spider-Man is the coolest superhero. And if you combine it with Cagney, Bogart and Edward G. Robinson, come on, he’s a great character. This most likely means that Spider-Man Noir is absent from Through the Multiverse , although there’s always the possibility that Sony Pictures Animation will recast the role.
