Antonio Banderas, the Puss in Boots actor, revealed Shrek’s return in a recent interview with Deadline. According to the source, the actor clearly hinted that the idea of \u200b\u200bcreating the fifth part of the famous animation was not abandoned at all.
Many animations that have become a permanent part of pop culture are returning to the big screen or to streaming platforms. Hollywood is getting more and more into the idea of long-running franchises and recognizable characters, and it looks like Shrek will return with a fifth installment.
I have been with this cat for almost 20 years. When I first played Puss in Boots, I was working on Broadway, so I recorded my lines there. So far, I’ve worked on five films, and there will probably be one more. I think Shrek is coming back.

I would certainly consider it, because why not? Recently someone asked me about Zorro and I said I’d love to do it. If someone called me to work on the next part, I would do what Anthony Hopkins did – I would pass the baton to someone else.
