Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness recently lost director Scott Derrickson. Marvel Studios is currently in talks with new potential directors. The main candidate is Sam Raimi – director of the Spider-Man trilogy.
Doctor Strange 2 recently lost director Scott Derrickson , the creator of the first film about the magical doctor in the comic books by Steve Ditko and Stan Lee .
Derrickson will not be the director of the new Marvel movie due to differences in creative vision. Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios are very grateful to him for his contributions to the MCU, and he will continue to executive produce the film.
Recordings of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness are scheduled for the second half of this year, so Marvel quickly began discussions with new candidates for the director role. One of them is Sam Raimi – the producer of many famous horror films , the cult series Xena: Warrior Princess and Hercules , the creator of Evil Dead , as well as the director of the Spider-Man movie trilogy .
He is currently working as a producer on the film adaptation of The Last of Us , the horror films Don’t Breathe 2 and Shrine , as well as directing the fantasy film The Kingkiller Chronicle and science fiction World War 3 .
Will he also take care of Doctor Strange 2 despite his busy schedule ? If so, there is a high risk of delays in his current projects.
The world premiere of Marvel’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is scheduled for May 7, 2021.
