Paranormal Activity may be hitting the stage soon! According to The Hollywood Reporter, veteran producer Simon Friend has acquired the license to the horror franchise . He wants to adapt the film for the stage with the intention of transferring the adaptation to London’s West End. According to the media, Gray House author Levi Holloway is set to write the adaptation, which is in the early stages of development. The project schedule has not been announced yet.
Paranormal Activity is just the latest film Friend is set to bring to the scene. He previously adapted The Da Vinci Code , Hotel Marigold , Pi and others. Pi won five Olivier Awards and three Tony Awards. Gray House opened on Broadway earlier this year starring Tatiana Maslany, Paul Sparks and Laurie Metcalf.
What is Paranormal Activity about ?
Written and directed by Oren Peli, the original Paranormal Activity debuted in 2007 and followed a young family who moves into a suburban house and becomes increasingly concerned about the presence of demons. The film dominated the horror genre for a time and spawned many additional films. The seventh and final one, Paranormal Activity: Next of kin , was released on October 29, 2021 on Paramount+ .
Will there be new films from the Paranormal Activity series in the future ?
While Paranormal Activity: Next of Kin surprised fans by being the first in the franchise in six years when it was released, producer Jason Blum has been vocal that the franchise needs to end.
That last Paranormal Activity movie was terrible.
– Blum said earlier.
In the case of Halloween, we only had the rights to three movies, so we said: Halloween is over! At least it’s ending for Blumhouse. With other things, you just feel like it’s time to put them to bed. Paranormal Activity would come back if a director I love like Scott Derrickson said, “I have a great idea for a Paranormal Activity movie . ” But it’s not something I want to do.

Christopher Landon, who wrote five of the seven films in the series, also questioned his future involvement with the franchise.
We did one during COVID and it was one of those things that just happened and I wasn’t even going to really commit to it because I was like, oh, I’m done with this franchise, I really don’t want to do this. And then I had this weird idea about a fake Amish community and we ended up making a movie. I mean, it’s a franchise. They will always make another one. I don’t understand how they don’t do it, I just don’t know what they’re planning and I highly doubt I’ll be involved anymore.
