In the days leading up to its world premiere, it was showered with praise from critics. It met their expectations, but they also admired the success in creating a rich RPG set in the Harry Potter universe. Within hours of its release, Hogwarts Legacy broke viewership records on Twitch , as a single-player version. It has been prominently featured on social media since its release. Of course, with such huge success, it seems very likely that the team behind it would attempt to keep up that momentum, either with sequels or DLC.

Speaking to Variety about the game’s success, it was noted that Warner Bros. Games sees Hogwarts Legacy as a long-term franchise . President of Warner Bros. Games developer David Haddad also revealed some interesting stats about the game to Variety on Feb. 16. They show how much time and energy has been invested in the game since its release. During this time, players have played over 152 million hours! As of February 21, this number has increased to 267 million hours! Given that the process of creating Hogwarts Legacytook at least five years, we’ll probably have to wait a bit for a sequel.
However, the Avalanche Software team has created a solid foundation for a sequel. A giant map has been created, and it seems like it will be expanded rather than thrown into a whole new environment. The created spells and fights were well received by the players. Fans have been asking for things like Quidditch to be added to the sequel, so it would probably be more about expanding on what people loved about Hogwarts Legacy than starting all over again.
