Who won’t appear in “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child”?

Chris Columbus, the creator of the first two installments of the series is considering being the director of a production inspired by Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.

However, not everyone is so excited about returning to the franchise. Daniel Radcliffe has no intention of reprising his role. He recently admitted that it might take decades before he gets excited about being Harry Potter again:

It won’t be an answer anyone wants to hear. I don’t think I am able to go back and enjoy it because it is no longer part of my daily life. I have reached a state where I have done everything I can regarding Potter, and I am happy in my current place. Coming back would be a big change in my life, but I never say never because the Star Wars people had a thirty or forty years off, and they are back anyway. It’s only a decade for me. This is not something I’m interested in at the moment.

The Cursed Child carries twenty years forward after the events of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and introduces Harry, Ron and Hermione, who must deal with supernatural powers once again. Columbus hopes his return to the franchise will see them recruit Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint to play their iconic roles as adults:

Romance / not romancing the idea. I think it would be great to do a Cursed Child drama version with the original cast because JJ Abrams did a great job of rebooting Star Wars with the original line-up. Purposefulness and nostalgia appeared right away, there is something very touching about this action. And these kids, now grown up, are of the right age to play these roles.

The series would appear on HBO Max.
