After the Reaper attack, the robots were not treated well. In fact, it’s even an understatement. So it is not surprising that they have had enough of this. The rise of robots continues the story and you can clearly see that it is approaching its climax.
Ethics takes a back seat
In the previous volumes of Descendant , ethical considerations were clearly emphasized. The situation of the world was easy to relate to reality. Although the general idea is still visible here, it seems that these discussions have receded somewhat to the background. The similarity between robots and biological entities is not so clearly emphasized here. This does not mean that we do not see it, there is at least one scene where it has been emphasized. However, the authors do not focus the attention of the reader on this.
Instead of calmer considerations, there is a more dynamic plot. The described events are definitely gaining momentum. What was slowly being sketched in Orbital Mechanics is now getting confirmation. Not only is the narrative faster, it has changed scale as well. It is already obvious that what is taking place is not the adventures of a group of heroes, but events of key importance for all worlds. It is still difficult to say how the story will end, but we already know that the climax is extremely close.
A fascinating story
Descendant ‘s plot delighted the reader from the very beginning. Individual volumes could be a little better or worse, but the series kept a high level. The creation of robots is definitely close to the top when it comes to this aspect. The story is very suspenseful and as readers we devour successive frames one by one. The authors provided us with fast-paced action, an interesting story and a few pinches of mystery. After turning the last page, we can’t stop thinking what’s going to happen next. We can hope that everything will end well somehow, but it’s hard to be sure about it.
Wonderful drawings complete the story. Their moodiness fits well with the story. Particularly noteworthy are the chapters opening chapters – including the one on the cover. The works of Dustin Nguyen may not be the most polished, but they cannot be denied their powerful influence. The texture of the paper on which they were painted, visible in the comic book, adds to the overall atmosphere.
A good follow-up
The creation of robots is a great comic book. The authors rose to the occasion and provided us with a sensational story in a visually attractive package. The ethical considerations clear in previous editions have given way to a bit of faster action, but we still see them in the background and Descender has not only become an empty shell full of action, but devoid of a keynote.
