Lucasfilm’s work on the new Star Wars series: The Acolyte is expected to begin in the coming days  . We’re still waiting for Disney to announce a release date. It looks like it will come a bit later than expected.

The Acolyte is scheduled for 2023, but the latest information from Bespin Bulletin suggests that the premiere will not take place until 2024. Currently, the main task is to prepare shooting plans at Shinfield Studios in Berkshire. As a result, work on the production of the series itself has not started yet, so all the more you should expect possible postponements.

For a change,  Ahsoka and  Skeleton Crew are already filmed , so you can immediately assume that they will appear before  The Acolyte . Considering the upcoming third season of The Mandalorian , 2023 is already full of Star Wars premieres.

The Acolyte showrunner  is Leslye Headland, a self-proclaimed fanatic of the entire Star Wars universe – including the extensive resources of the Expanded Universe.

She is a giant  Star Wars fan . The great thing about Leslye is that she knows all about it. She has read billions of books on the EU. She borrows from them various elements that have not yet been released on screen. It draws heavily from the Expanded Universe, where we are dealing with a mass of books, games, comics, now considered non-canonical “legends”. The Acolyte ‘s debut  will surely delight EU fans, for whom the aspects coming from there will come back to life once more.

Kathleen Kennedy, the producer of Lucasfilm, said about Leslye.

Headland herself in an interview for Vanity Fair revealed that filming  Star Wars during the times of the Great Republic was her initiative:

The truth is, I, as a huge fan, first came to them with this idea. And I said, “I think it’s best to put the show into an era that you haven’t fully explored yet.” They were very enthusiastic. It’s not that they didn’t want to explore this world at all, but I think they relied heavily on canon characters for the sake of The Mandalorian and the rest of the TV projects. I approached it as a fan who was much more into RPGs, which were heavily based on the Expanded Universe. I thought to myself, “If we want to explore  Star Wars from the villains’ perspective, the best time to do that is when there are far fewer bad guys. When they’re the underdogs. “
