After last week’s news about the resignation from the cinema premiere, the creators decided to seal their decision with a new trailer. The animation, as confirmed in the trailer, will appear on Disney + on the first day of Christmas 2020. An important difference that distinguishes What in Soul from earlier productions released in this way is that the movie will be available to all account holders on the Disney + platform, not like, for example, the acting version of Mulan (2020), for which you had to pay an additional fee. In addition to distribution information, the trailer shows new scenes, revealing more and more about the cartoon feast that the studio is going to give us.
What plays in the soul tells of the adventure of Joe Gardner (Jamie Foxx), a music teacher who gets the chance to fulfill his dream and play on the stage of the best jazz club in the city. As a result of an unfortunate accident, he ends up in the Underworld, a place where souls are shaped and raised before going to Earth. Joe begins his search for a way back, not wanting to lose his old life. He also meets 22 (Tina Fey), a soul who longs to stay in the Underworld as long as possible and looks reluctantly at life on the other side. Together, Joe and 22 will face big questions about the value and purpose of life and dreams.
Pete Docter and Kemp Powers sit on the director’s stools What in the soul plays , and along with the voices of Foxx and Fey, we will hear stars such as Graham Norton ( Graham Norton Show ), Rachel House ( Thor: Ragnarok ) or Angela Bassett ( Black Panther , American Horror Story ). The film will feature the music of Jon Batiste himself, a great jazzman, supported by songs by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross. The trailers also showcase the variety and experimentation of drawing and animation, shared by Walt Disney Pictures and Pixar Animation Studios. Bob Chapek, representative of The Walt Disney Company says:
We are very excited about the December premiere of Co w duszy gra aimed at Disney +. Each novelty from Pixar is a unique occasion, especially when we can share this touching, funny story about interpersonal relationships and searching for one’s own place in the world during the holiday season, i.e. spending time with the family.
Since the last post on this topic, the situation has not changed and on the Rotten Tomatoes portal, currently with 21 reviews, the animation maintains the result of 100%. We are very curious if it will remain so until December. Now we can only wait for this wonderful gift that Disney has planned for us this Christmas.
