Joe Gardner, a music teacher whose greatest passion is jazz, is given a life chance: he will be able to play in the best jazz club in the city. Literally one little stumble takes him from the streets of New York to the Underworld – a fantastic place where new souls acquire their personalities before going to Earth. Determined to return to his earthly life, Joe joins forces with a soul 22 who is completely alien to the charms of human existence. As Joe tries hard to show 22 why human life is great, he has a chance to find answers to some of life’s most important questions.
