What Logan fans like best! – review of the comic book “Wolverine. Black, white and blood “

Wolverine is one of Marvel’s most popular and beloved heroes. No wonder that the House of Ideas occasionally treats its fans with its new adventures. This time, Logan found his way to a new series known as Black, White and Blood .

Total destruction!

Wolverine. Black, white and bloodis the first part of a series that was created in 2020. In its next installments we will meet such heroes as Carnage, Deadpool and Elektra. At the moment, thanks to the Mucha Comics publishing house, we have received the opening collection, Logan. The album itself consists of 12 short stories, several pages long, which are linked by the character of Rosomak. They are spread over time and begin while Logan is still in the Weapon X testing phase. Later, we travel with him to Canada, Japan, Madriporo, and Savage Land. All adventures focus primarily on fights led by the title character, and each of them is extremely bloody. Wolverine has the opportunity to cut and hack samurai, ninjas, sharks, aliens and dinosaurs. He also clashes with Jaggernaut, Sabertooth and Mystique. Guest supporters from Punisher, Nick Fury, Jubilee and Magic. Is someone still not enough?

It is worth noting that each of the 12 stories has a different author. Among the screenwriters there are, among others Gerry Duggan, Matthew Rosenberg, Chris Clermont and John Ridley. Admittedly, the story level varies. Most, however, can be considered good, which was quite an achievement considering that the stories are short, and most of the time Wolverine puts more enemies dead. What can be done on a few pages, where, almost at the outset, Rosomak makes the famous “Snikt” and goes into battle? It turns out quite a lot. There will be plenty of twists and funny scenes. Thanks to this, the whole thing is quick and pleasant to read.

The title says it all

As it is not difficult to guess in the comic, we only find three colors – black, white and red. Of course, the latter is not flowers or walls, but blood, which, as I mentioned, is quite a lot here. Just like the scripts, the drawings are also the responsibility of a dozen different artists. Anyway, it is clearly visible, because each of them presents its own style. And although it is difficult to look for bigger celebrities here (maybe with the exception of Adam Kubert), it is also difficult to have greater reservations about the graphics. Just a story Burn it down! it is terribly indistinct, which is a pity, because the story itself is already front. In other cases, however, it is the drawings that improve the quality of the adventure and give us an even more interesting whole.

Only for Wolverine fans?

Wolverine. Black, white and bloodis primarily a treat for fans of Logan himself. They will be able to enjoy their pet that does exactly what it is best at and what we love it for. By the way, these aren’t just stories for fun. Each of them refers to a certain fragment of Wolverine’s life and readers will be able to supplement them with some threads known from comics. However, can only lovers of the title character rave about the album? Of course not! It will also be appreciated by those who are interested in the graphic side of comics. We have over a dozen different drawing styles here, all in a unique, black, white and red edition. In addition, the notebook includes a gallery of alternative covers, which we will be happy to admire. As for the plot itself, it is not particularly demanding, but it is certainly fun and addictive. The comic reads fast, has a few nice plot twists, and Logan’s subsequent quarrels ask for a smile on his face. The title should therefore be considered a plus and just wait for the next installments of the series. And these are to be released soon also with us. Get ready for Carnage!
