When we are given the power to change the world, do we change the world or ourselves? Does being a hero with supernatural powers oblige us to be crystal good? You can find the answer to this question in the comic book “Incognito”.
Paweł Kamiński is a boy like many. An amazing coincidence, however, causes that he gains powers straight from the Invisible Man by Herbert George Welles and decides to go to help the needy and the harmed. However, he soon learns that not all of them need the same, and often the oppressor must be saved from his victim. Nothing is easy when you are both a policeman and a judge. In the USA, moral behavior and attitudes are always unambiguous and it is immediately clear who is good and who is bad. Unfortunately, the Polish superhero life is not so easy.
What is the hero’s life on the Vistula like?
In the comic book by Piotr Czarnecki Incognitohe will have to make questionable alliances throughout his career, and other characters will often turn out to be not what they seem. It is true that in the following parts the action will rush at breakneck speed and will not give Paweł K. a moment of rest, but the reader will probably have no problem keeping up with the content. It must be remembered that this is still an entertaining story, which is not meant to change the worldview of the recipient, but to provide them with a good time. It is difficult to count on a complicated psychological foundation here. The other heroes do not have strong characters or motivations. They appear and disappear at the speed of bullets fired from a machine gun, although at the same time the writer presents a larger intrigue in the background, connecting the entire content. The title hero is slowly getting closer to the conclusions and the final confrontation.
After eight notebooks, the reader has long managed to like or rather get irritated by the actions of the characters, which proves their trace emotional credibility. The characters’ behavior is a bit annoying (it’s a fact!), But also mysterious, which makes them eagerly flip through the pages of the comic book to learn about their fate. It is also encouraging to read that the scriptwriter does not treat his creations as obvious entities and can not only harm them, but also remove them from the stage.
What does the invisible man look like?
The graphic design is the responsibility of Łukasz Ciżmowski, who oscillates between a line typical of a superhero comic book and a horror style. It is an advantageous combination as the description fits perfectly with the presented content. The characters and their world are just… ugly. However, they are supposed to be like that, and showing the “dirty” plot with perfectly polished and fancy graphics would not necessarily have a positive effect.
