The orphan, drunk, and dwarf Wolverine embark on a journey in an antiquated pirate ship. Is the first volume of OKP Dolores a promise of an amazing space adventure?
Let us follow the path of new pioneers
The story begins on the eighteenth birthday of an orphan named Mony. She was abandoned by her parents and was taken in by nuns from the convent of the new pioneers. Upon reaching maturity, they leave well-known places to follow their own path. However, unlike the other orphans, she receives her father’s legacy, which turns out to be a powerful combat ship called “Dolores”. This is where the first problems begin, because Mony cannot pilot this machine, so she has to find a pilot. In a neighborhood full of scum, he meets Kash, who, unfortunately, is not perfect, and drinks all his sorrows with alcohol. As it turns out later, the ship is not the only gift from her father – the girl also receives help from one of his subordinates.
Mony, Kash and Tork versus the universe
The three main characters seem to be a group of outcasts. At first glance, they seem to have such different personalities and views that they shouldn’t be able to get along. For Mona, faith is the most important thing, while Kash prefers forceful solutions. Later, the mechanic Tork also appears – an extremely mysterious individual, usually silent, and in addition hiding his face under a mask. His weapon is retractable claws. The heroes have potential, they seem quite intriguing, because everyone has some secrets. On the other hand, antagonists are a bunch of ordinary thugs for whom money is the most important. Interestingly, one of them is the new incarnation of Jabba from Star Wars . In addition, there is also the church guard, which also has their own plans for Mona and her ship.
Beautiful and deadly Dolores
The graphic design has its undeniable charm. The characters are well drawn, and the fight scenes are also more dynamic. Didier and Lyse Tarquin did a solid job. Aliens, for example, werewolf-like aliens, look interesting, although unfortunately in this universe we will find more people than other creatures. In addition, the authors created an unusual ship design. Personally, I was surprised by the presented shape of Dolores, because I was not used to cuboid-like ships. The church guards are also intriguing – I mean both the armor of the members of the organization and their fleet.
Is it worth becoming a member of a space pirate ship?
OKP Dolores. The Path of New Pioneers is an interesting science fiction story. The first volume did not reveal many pages, but the world presented and the heroes seem so interesting that I would like to use the sequel. However, I am concerned that it will ultimately be one of many stories that will not bring anything new to the genre. The comic was pleasant to read, but it didn’t surprise me either. Moreover, I have the impression that these forty-eight pages are definitely not enough. If ten more pages were to be added, the course of a flight to an alien planet that had been neglected could even be developed. OKP DoloresI read it very quickly and I have a slight feeling of wanting. In summary, it is a nice, beautifully illustrated story, but at the same time it does not stand out among many other comics, and the world presented in it, unfortunately, has not yet been properly exposed.
