Reviewers are afraid of sequels, especially when the first part of the animation turned out to be interesting and fun. Well, she won millions of hearts of young viewers! The Secret Life of Pets 2 features familiar animals in a slightly newer version. Max, Duke, Toupee, Chloe and the others say hello again!
We love our pets
As we learned from The Secret Life of Pets, pets can play a lot of tricks on their two-legged keepers, especially when they are bored. Our heroes, however, do not have time to play, their lives are constantly taking up new challenges, fighting adversities and gaining the sympathy of the youngest viewers. A lot is happening in this part, thanks to, among others, new baby in the family. Max promises to obsessively protect the missing toy terrier in the care of Gidget, or the murderous circus owner, who is under the surveillance of the Tuptu rabbit. The protagonists experience amazing adventures together, which will often amuse the youngest viewers (yeah, I remember the laughs in Cinema City to this day!), And will make adults smile. Until my Lord returns
Max is a jack russell terrier and once again the creators perfectly matched the character of the dog’s hero to his textbook prototype. The main character of the story, despite his small height, is confident in his abilities, confident and rebellious. However, when the descendant of his beloved lady – Liam appears in the center of his interest, Max turns into a fearful dog and goes to … a dog psychologist. The cure for the pet’s nervous tic is to go to the countryside (together with his friend Duke), where he will not have to worry about his “human herd”. The Dog Kogut, whose heroes meet in an idyllic setting, shows animals a different life and teaches them that it is not worth being afraid of what only seems to be a threat. The narrative of the heroes’ adventures outside the city serves strictlydidactic. Animals not only entertain, but also teach – responsibility, courage and trust.

I am the dog and you are the superhero
Chloe, the fluffy cat known from the first part of the animation, usually spends her time lounging in the afternoons. However, he does not hesitate to help animal friends when they have to retrieve Max’s beloved toy. Gidget, who was responsible for her safety, must learn how to be a cat and face the other representatives of this species in the mega kociary apartment. Chloe – the teacher – instructs her friend how to behave. In the meantime, the rabbit Tuptuś decides to display his skills worthy of a superhero. His courage and obstinacy are questioned when he sees real danger on the horizon. However, fearless Tuptuś decides to go to help a young Siberian tiger, who is imprisoned by a sinister Russian in the depths of the circus.

A few remarks after the screening
The animation was not received with thunderous applause from international critics. According to information on the Rotten Tomatoes portal, only less than 60% of reviews are positive. On the other hand, Metacritic provided data that the average rating is 6.1 (calculated on the basis of 51 votes). After getting acquainted with these opinions, the potential viewer may lose the desire to see a screening. However, don’t forget that The Secret Life of Pets 2 is a fun and entertaining movie for kids under 10. Despite the fact that its heroes do not change and they still struggle with similar problems, their reality will surely entertain the youngest cinema fans. Or maybe they will learn a lesson from the screening?
