House of the Dragon viewers will be able to watch from August 21. HBO announced the production debut on Wednesday and published a poster on the occasion. The series will be based on a novel by George RR Martin , Fire and Blood , set about 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones . The plot focuses on the Targaryen family. During an interview with ComicBook.com, star Matt Smith, who plays Prince Daemon Targaryen, said House of the Dragon is something other than Game of Thrones , despite being set in the same universe.
To be honest, I think the show is really different from the original series. It has to be. The original series was brilliant in its own right, left a permanent mark, and cannot be repeated. The truth is, I haven’t seen an episode yet, so it’s also hard for me to judge. It’s set in the same world but had to take on a slightly different identity, said Smith
In addition to the already mentioned Smith, the series will feature actors such as Paddy Considine, Olivia Cooke, Emma D’Arcy, Steve Toussaint, Eve Best, Fabien Frankel, Sonoya Mizuno, Milly Alcock, Bethany Antonia, John Macmillan, Graham McTavish and Savannah Steyn. According to the official summary of HBO House of the Dragon is:
A prequel showing the Targaryen Dynasty at their peak, with over 15 dragons under their yoke. We will be able to see their slow decline, which begins almost 193 years before the events of Game of Thrones, when King Viserys Targaryen breaks with a century-old tradition, making his daughter Rhaenyra heir to the Iron Throne. But when Viserys fathers a son, the court is shocked as Rhaenyra retains her heir status and the seeds of division wreak friction throughout the kingdom.
