Variety confirmed that Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai will hear the voices of Isaac Wang, Ming-Na Wen, BD Wong, James Hong, Matthew Rhys and Gabrielle Green. The action of the series will take place in the twenties of the last century. In it we will follow the adventures of Sam Wing, a ten-year-old who met the young Mogwai – Gizmo. Sam’s character has already appeared in movies. At that time he was already an elderly gentleman who ran a small shop.
The roles of Sam and Gizmo will be played by Izaac Wang and AJ LoCascio, respectively. The main character’s parents – Fong and Hona Wing – will be played by Ming-Na Wen and BD Wong. James Hong lends his voice to the grandfather of the main character. His character is the only one who believes in Mogwaie and their true power. He was to learn about them during numerous journeys around the world. Gabrielle Green will play Elle, a thief and Sam’s best friend. The villain of the animation – industrialist Riley Greene – will speak in the voice of Matthew Rhys.
In the series we will see Sam, Elle and Gizmo set off on a journey through China to find the family of the charming creature and discover the legendary treasure. During their adventures, they will encounter many creatures from Chinese folklore. Some of them will be hostile to the three heroes. Following their friends’ footsteps are power-hungry Riley Greene and his growing Gremlin army.
The exact release date of Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai is not known yet. The production should debut this year on HBO Max.
