The latest trailer for the series “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” reveals a complete look at the coherent picture of events. Premiere on December 20 on Disney+!

After an extensive pre-production and filming process, Percy Jackson and the Olympians is in its final stages. The series adaptation of Rick Riordan’s best-selling novels will tell the story of the Lightning Thief in the first season, the 375-page first part of the book series. While die-hard fans already know the ins and outs of the story, new viewers only got small teasers of what’s to come in Season 1. The first two trailers were basically compilations of unrelated scenes, with only eagle-eyed viewers making the subtle connections. The same can’t be said for the latest Percy Jackson trailer, as this 93-second chunk of fresh footage provides a skeletal structure for Season 1’s plot.

The new Percy Jackson trailer teases the full plot

The new trailer opens with Walker Scobell, the titular demigod visiting the Met Museum with his colleagues from Yancy Academy. Percy alludes to being a “troublesome child” when his dyslexia begins to manifest itself by changing words on the tour sheet. Things take a turn when Percy’s pen begins to shake and he is approached by the sinister-looking Mrs. Dodds (Megan Mullally), before transforming into the beastly Alecto, a Fury who serves Hades (Jay Duplass).

Sally reveals to Percy that the Greek mythology stories she told him are true. Flashes of Zeus (Lance Reddick) and the battle armor-clad Camp Half-Bloods hit the screen. Grover (Aryan Simhadri) interrupts Sally’s story at their Montauk vacation spot, revealing himself as a satyr and insisting that they must leave.

Percy arrives at Camp Half-Blood when activities director Chiron (Glynn Turman) mentions that he and the campers were “expecting” him. The campers then engage in a game of capture the flag, with Clarisse (Dior Goodjohn) leading one of the charges.

Chiron reveals the crux of the first season’s plot by telling Percy that Zeus’s master lightning bolt was stolen from Olympus. As he says this, a shot of an unknown figure zooms in on Percy and Grover in the dark throne room, possibly Hades based on the setting. More quick cuts to what appears to be Aunt Em’s Garden Gnome Center, the Lotus Casino, Ares (Adam “Edge” Copeland) on his motorcycle, Echidna (Suzanne Cryer) and the Minotaur cut out before the final shot of Percy wielding the Riptide against the half-human, half-bull beast.
